**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The California Labor & Employment Staff Attorney or Counsel position is an hourly, fully-remote role within the national Innovative Staffing Team (IST). The role provides the opportunity to work with a highly skilled "swat team" of Labor and Employment lawyers while handling significant employment litigation matters without the obligations of a full-time, partner-track position.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Handle employment litigation matters, preferably on the management-side, with increasing responsibilities  
* Engage in federal and state court practice and interact with the EEOC, Department of Labor, and other federal, state, and local administrative agencies  
* Draft responsive pleadings, motions (including summary judgment), and manage all aspects of the discovery process  
* Represent clients in fact-finding conferences, on-site visits, mediations, and conciliations  
* Negotiate settlements and prepare position statements for investigations and proceedings  
* Collaborate with experienced lawyers to share ideas, resources, and best practices  
* Maintain strong time management skills and flexibility to handle workflow without billable hours expectations  

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**

* Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible employment litigation experience, preferably on the management-side  
* Familiarity with federal and state court practice, as well as administrative agency procedures  
* Active bar license in the state of residence and one in which Seyfarth Shaw maintains an office  
* Strong analytical, communication, and legal writing skills  
* Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a remote legal team  

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

* Prior experience working within a national or top-tier Labor & Employment practice group  
* Experience handling complex employment matters across multiple jurisdictions  
* Demonstrated ability to mentor junior attorneys or contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives  

**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**

The hourly rate for this position starts at $110 per hour for work performed in California. Compensation within the stated range will depend on education, qualifications, experience, skills, and organizational needs. The role is eligible for annual merit increases and bonus pay.
